A Note From Our Founder, Erin Culley

Stand Together Glam Together is an event designed to bring every person from every walk of life together, to celebrate the make up, hair and beauty industries, whilst raising money for charity.

I came up with the idea in 2020 in the middle of the pandemic, after smashing through standard lockdown routines. I felt like I had watched everything on Netflix and I was struggling with the willpower to create another quiz for the family zoom call! I soon realised I wasn't the only one feeling this frustration.

As a qualified make-up artist, I have always had a passion for make-up and I constantly found myself scrolling through Instagram looking for new make up looks and tutorials, and that's when the idea came to me…

Why not create a virtual event where you can find all of this in the one place, and use the money raised to give back to charities that really need our support?

With the NHS and care sector under enormous strain from the pandemic, I knew I wanted to use this event to give back to them, and show appreciation for all of their hard work by raising as much money as possible. From there I started reaching out to some friends in the industry, and then things spiralled and we ended up with such an amazing line up of creatives. I set up a fundraising page and the Instagram page, to gain a social media following and an online presence. All of our events happened on the 13th June 2020 and were published on our Instagram and Facebook live feeds. The Q&A sessions also enabled our viewers to interact directly with the creatives. All of our posts and videos linked back to the fundraising page; we wanted to keep access to all content free, so that everyone was able to enjoy STGT.

We ended up with over 20 creatives and a combination of 30 demos and Q&As, as well as some amazing raffle prizes, including a massive product donation from (fangirl moment) Jamie Genevieve!!! I could not believe the support and its success was due to the incredible generosity from our creatives, supporters, and audience.

Bringing STGT 2020 to life

I wanted to create something that embraced all aspects of these industries where professionals, enthusiasts (and even people who haven't even picked up a make up brush) could watch, enjoy and even maybe learn a thing or two. I teamed up with NHS Charities Together and Scottish Care, to help provide support at this difficult time in the only way many of us could. We raised £1410 and 100% of the proceeds were split equally between the two charities. You can read about our journey with Scottish Care here.

Ambitions for STGT 2021

I want to build on the success from 2020 and make Stand Together Glam Together 2021 bigger, bolder, and better. In a time where lots of our connections are happening online, let’s celebrate these fantastic industries that have suffered and share our talent. By working with partner charities, our skills really can make a difference.

We intend on using social media again this year to showcase the festival, and will be publishing links to the fundraising pages and sign-up info soon.
